After completing his medical training, Dr. Narayanan spent five years at Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital for his General Surgery residency. He traveled to Orlando for his Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship. His training emphasized laparoscopy, stapled hemorrhoidectomy and pelvic floor disorders such as anal incontinence, constipation and prolapse. Dr. Narayanan is Board Certified in General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery. He brings new skills to Colon and Rectal Care, especially in the area of incontinence. He is the Director of the new pelvic floor lab opened in August of 2002 to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of incontinence as well as staging rectal cancers. Dr. Narayanan performed the first successful Robotically Assisted colon operation in Indiana on June 26, 2006. The surgery was performed using four small incisions and the patient was released to home on the third post-operative day.
